Information, these days, circulates the same way most things do, through technology. For example, my family and I just found out that my cousins had a second child, through text. Since they live farther away, this was the only personal way they could share this news with us that wasn't social media that they knew we would receive immediately and check regularly. That being said, social media is the main way that people aged around 13-25 get their information, because it is something they are familiar and comfortable with. Take the election for another example, many people my age were following what was happening with it on twitter, because they knew that it is where people would be talking about the most current topic. Medium plays a huge role in information circulation because if a piece of info is put on the wrong medium, then it could get lost or be ignored. You wouldn't put something you wanted millennials to pay attention to on an email or in a newspaper, because, like it or not, that is not where most people who fall in that age range get their info. People in the previous generation would read it, but if they are not your target audience, then the information probably won't pertain to them in anyway, and will be ignored. The way you spread information has a lot to do with who will end up reading it, so it is a choice that must be made carefully.
In this day and age all information first circulates through technology and then gets spread by word of mouth. Technology is the number one source for information in the 21st century and whether it’s through tv, cell phones, or the internet, technology is the first way that people learn new information. After information is absorbed from a technological source I believe the next step is by spreading that information through social interaction. By this I mean that people talk about the information that they have learned from it circulating through a source of technology. The role that a medium plays is really important. I think the majority of people get information from most to least starting with the internet, by using cell phones and apps on those phones like facebook, instagram, twitter, or news apps. The second used medium for information is television. Tv’s have an endless supply of information being broadcast to society 24/7. I think the third medium for information is computers, tablets, ipads, etc. These would be any source that is not a phone or a tv but is still a piece of technology. These are the types of sources that people would use when they are at home and not watching tv. Different mediums determine what information is going to be circulated. For example, on a phone you can get information from twitter and facebook, but these apps are not available on tv’s. This is just one example as to how a specific medium can drastically change the information that is circulated. I think overall, information is spread through technology and the mediums we access that circulated information through, determines how much and what type of information will be circulated to a certain audience.
Information circulates in many different ways. Speaking to one another, publishing a newspaper, magazine, online article, and even spray painting a rock on a college campus. Technology today has masked the basic ways of life that we all take for granted. It has also enhanced our ability to easily stream information live around the world. Information comes in all different formats and mediums. The medium chosen to deliver any information is important because it tells you about the target audience for your information. If someone is publishing a hard copy book, that information is limited to people who actually read books or the people they know. This has changed slightly with social media and advancements on the Internet. There are many mediums now that do not record information that is spread. Skype, FaceTime, and other video streaming softwares may not capture and record information which resembles face to face conversation. Have you ever heard of the telephone game? How many times does the information stay the same after being passes from one person to another until it reaches the end of the line? Without recording information we are likely to skew it in our favor and we will not be able to learn much from that information.
Information circulates these days through technology. Mostly every person in the developed world has a smart phone, and can access all news sites, or newspaper sites. Just like I mentioned in Blog 3, people use their cell phone as the newest medium to gather information. Whether it be to find out what their friends are doing on social media sites. To finding out the weather, since they have an app for that. Or even getting news. With the presidential election that just happened, whether they should have or not a lot of people used Facebook as a medium for their information, instead of researching and fact checking. But without getting off topic, Facebook is a good resource to use for circulating information, especially with each person having 200-300 friends, by the end of the day most of the world will have seen the news article or funny meme. But if you are not using Facebook or any other social networking site, then you may see information circulating first being broadcasted on the news, and then posted as an article to the news’ website. Just another way that they are keeping up with the changing technology of the world. The medium plays the role of helping get the information, like I mentioned above with smart phones or computers.
Information circulate normally happen in our daily life. As technology development fast, people can get different information through devices such as computer, cell phone or TV. These devices offer the place which people can see it. For example, during the Olympics game time, if we want to know which country is medal winner, we can through TV or computer to look at it. Information circulate is not only happened in a specific area, but also it circulates in all over the world. Wherever people living, they all can get information. Then, the media offer resources that people can know what happened. Moreover, people get information quickly is due to the media development rapidly. From the example we can see, media is play an important role in information circulate. Because this process is like play a movie. If we have audience, screen, and movie projectors, but we do not have videotape. Without videotape, the process will not be done. Because we can not show information to audience. So, in our case, devices are like movie projector and videotape is like the media. If we only have projector and without the media, we could not get any information. So, we can see media is very important in the whole information circulate process. Because the media carry the important information resource.
In today's day and age information is circulated in many ways. Phones, computers, the news, social media, and even having a conversation in person with someone. Information though today can be spread quicker than ever. Technology plays a huge role. Now, with the news and social media any piece of information can be in the palm of your hands within hours of it happening, maybe even minutes. Phones let people talk one on one with people across the world. Even recently the world is becoming more and more connected which allows for better circulation of information. For example, on Facebook things like “Live” allow for one to post about something that is happening live and others can comment about it between each other. Depending on the type of medium though this information can be skewed. The same medium that is allow for this quick, wide spread circulation can be unreliable. A lot of this information that is being spread around the world is misread. This causes for a problem for people to decide whether or not to believe what the see or hear. This misrepresentation has always happened, even when the newspaper was the newest technology that was around. The fast paced circulation of today though just allows for the bad information to be sent to everyone quicker.
Information circulates depending on the interest the topic garnishes from audiences. For information to circulate it must resonate among people. Authors who wish for their information to circulate successfully must consider both the intrigue of their topic as well as the medium the information will be communicated across. When these elements work in harmony they maximize the exposure information can receive. For example, a celebrity who instagrams a picture of their cat may receive greater acknowledgement for their post compared to an average citizen who posts an equally interesting picture of their feline companion because there is greater interest from a wider audience from the former than the latter. The medium information is circulated through also can determine accessibility and audience. Sources located on the internet provides nearly instantaneous and unlimited access to information, while a mediums like books require people to locate and attain the information. Strategic writers will use a multitude of mediums for conveying information in order to achieve the greatest amount of circulation for their information. For example, news stories are communicated through radio, television, podcast, or internet, widening their coverage. Writers may publish their works on a website, magazine, scholarly journal, or in a book. While the amount of coverage does not assure a successful reception of the information, it does increase the chances of individuals accessing it. It is up to the writer to address an exigence that will attract the extended attention of their audience.
Information circulates mostly through technology via the internet, television, social media like facebook, Twitter, etc; or on a cellular device. Information also is circulated through newspapers, books, and word of mouth. When it comes to information being circulated in medium of technology gets to more people because almost everybody has a cellphone these days. We use the internet to look up websites, social media, and other information that we can gather at the tips of our fingers. Also television reports whats going on in the world through shows. On our cellphones we can text other people and gain information through family and friends. Accessibility plays a major role in how something can be circulated. Newspapers are sold in gas stations, stores and on corners in some cities. They used to get delivered to people’s doorsteps however many don’t have access to that anymore putting them at an inconvenience. Libraries carry books along with bookstores and despite a lot of people saying they don’t like to read for many people it is a requirement therefore they gain knowledge about what they are reading. Gossip can be seen as a medium for passing information between friends. The medium for which information is circulated allows for how much can be gained at a time.
Nowadays, technology and social media are playing a huge role in delivering and circulating information between people. For example, Facebook and twitter are getting more popular among people as sources of information. People now are more likely to search online for the information they want. Even on the family level, for example me, because I study abroad, I have to talk everyday with my family using the different online apps to know each other's news and what is going on in our lives. Also, when I want to know about something happening in the world, I usually use twitter. The nice thing about social media is that they don’t only give you the information, but also what other people are saying about it. So you get to know other people's opinions. There are other sources of information of course like TV, newspapers, magazines, etc. Although the number of people who use those tools has declined, but they still have audience among people. However, if the writer wants to target a specific audience, he should pay attention to the tool he is using. Using a newspaper is different than using a TV program or an online platform, as each one of those has a different audience, like different ages, different academic levels, etc.
Information today circulates fast, and without delay. Technological mediums allow for this to happen, as we can place a piece of information on the internet, and watch it spread like a wildfire. There is a sense of urgency given to any information placed on the internet, that comes inherently because of the nature of the medium. Things like social media and news sources taking advantage of mobile and immediate capabilities of technology give way to patterns in information transfer. Social media and news media are two industries involved in the spread of information via technology that are responsible for the characteristic of uncanny information speed. Now, the speed of technological communication extends to all users of the internet - even the academic. At this point in time, the entire span of human knowledge is in some way reflected on the internet. Because anything one could possibly inquire about is accessible freely, it is sad to see information circulate so poorly en masse in such an advanced age. The progress of technology and the demand for quick information have not been resistant to false information, or information that would otherwise guide a reader away from an objective truth. I have a positive outlook on the means by which humanity has come to communicate, but I am also discouraged by humanity's habit of projecting bias into these accomplishments.
Information circulates in many different ways. The medium of the information plays a large role in how it circulates. It has an effect on where it goes and who sees it. Information can circulate at different speeds depending on the medium. Technology contributes a lot to information circulation. The internet is one of the fastest ways that information can travel. There are specific settings in certain news apps that can even notify you right away, similar to a text message or email notification. If news isn’t spread through the internet, it can be viewed on television or listened to on the radio. These are also affective mediums for circulation, but can only be witnessed in real time, unless it is a recording. Information can also circulate through word of mouth. People often have an inclination to share information with each other. They can either use their actual mouths or use their technological mediums to communicate the information, whether it through email, texting, calling, leaving a voicemail, sharing on social media, etc. Depending on the medium and the people relaying the information, circulation can either happen rapidly, such as a youtube video accumulating one million views overnight, or it can happen at a leisurely pace, such as friends sharing gossip only when they happen to run each other. Information can circulate in many ways through many mediums.
Nowadays, information primarily circulates through technology. There are many other mediums in addition to technology through which the information circulates, however today especially technology plays a large role in how information is conveyed. For example Ted Talks, power point presentations, and social media are just some of the many ways (specific mediums) that information is presented to an audience. Other mediums through with information can be passed through include journals, articles, newspapers, etc. However I feel that the primary medium is technology. The passage of information is straightforward on the internet. For example, on social media when you upload a picture or compose a post, the information is delivered. However when/how the audience receives the information varies. Oftentimes through the internet information may be presented in one way and taken in another way. I don't think any type of information is unbiased, but it is interesting to analyze how individuals receive the same piece of information in different ways. In addition, how individuals receive the information can also depend upon the medium. Some people relate more to social media, while others feel they would be more educated through the newspaper. Either way, it is quite interesting to analyze the way in which the information travels through the medium, and how different people receive that information in a unique manner.
